THE TEAM NEWS
GOLD COAST TITANS
Starting 13: Brimson, Marzhew, Kelly, Herbert, Thompson, Taylor, Sexton, Wallace, Rein, Fotuaika, Proctor, Fifita, Fa’asuamaleaui – Interchanges: Clark, Lisone, Fermor, Jolliffe – Reserves: Marsters, Fogarty
Unavailable: Phillip Sami (Injured), Jayden Campbell (Injured), Tyrone Peachey (Suspended)
- Gold Coast Titans made it back-to-back victories for just the second time this season to significantly boost their chances of finishing in the top eight but they need to back that up here in this Queensland derby.
- The Titans were comfortable victors over Canterbury Bulldogs last week, although that will count for little unless they make it three straight wins with Gold Coast appearing to be locked in a five-way battle for the final two spots in the final.
NORTH QUEENSLAND COWBOYS
Starting 13: Holmes, Feldt, Lemuelu, Hampton, Tuualagi, Drinkwater, Dearden, Gilbert, Robson, McLean, Taumalolo, Luki, Hess – Interchanges: Dunn, Condon, Burr, Granville – Reserves: Asi, Wright
Unavailable: Reuben Cotter (Injured), Javid Bowen (Injured), Hamiso Tabuai-Fidow (Injured), Kane Bradley (Injured)
- After putting in a brilliant effort when falling just short against top of the ladder Melbourne Storm in their previous outing, North Queensland were unable to produce a similar level of performance as they were disappointingly beaten by Brisbane Broncos last week.
- The Cowboys had high hopes of prevailing in that Queensland derby but were well-beaten in the end and now they face another of their local rivals with pride at stake once again, although they are boosted here with Valentine Holmes returning at fullback.
THE PREDICTION
Both of these Queensland teams have blown hot and cold for most of
the season but the Gold Coast Titans are now in with a real shout of
making the top eight thanks to back-to-back successes. North Queensland
Cowboys will hope to hand their Queensland rivals a blow by coming out
on top here but they come into this having lost their last seven
matches. That run of form will be difficult to overcome here and with
the Titans winning the last two clashes between the pair, the hosts can
prevail once again.
