THE TEAM NEWS

BRISBANE BRONCOS

Starting 13: Isaako, Coates, Farnworth, Arthars, Mead, Milford, Kelly, Kennedy, Turpin, Haas, Palasia, Pangai Jnr., Flegler – Interchanges: Hetherington, Asiata, Bullemor, Robati – Reserves: Copley, Cobbo, Kennar, Paix

Unavailable: Kotoni Staggs (Injured), Ben Te’o (Injured), Alex Glenn (Injured), Patrick Carrigan (Injured), Jordan Riki (Suspended), Tyson Gamble (Suspended), Matt Lodge (Suspended)

  • Brisbane Broncos pulled off the biggest upset of the season as they shocked Sydney Roosters last week with Albert Kelly pulling the strings on his Broncos debut, leading his side to a 16-34 success in what was just their third win of the campaign.
  • Kelly will have a new partner in the halves for this contest with Tyson Gamble suspended so Anthony Milford is handed yet another chance to earn a new deal but he will have a huge task on his hands to help the Broncos to a win in this one.

MELBOURNE STORM

Starting 13: Hynes, Jennings, R. Smith, Olam, Addo-Carr, Lewis, Hughes, J. Bromwich, B. Smith, Welch, Kaufusi, Eisenhuth, Finucane – Interchanges: Booth, Kamikamica, Loiero, Asofa-Solomona – Reserves: Ieremia, Lumelume, Pene, Johns

Unavailable: Max King (Injured), Darryn Schonig (Injured), Brenko Lee (Injured), Cameron Munster (Injured), Harry Grant (Injured), Ryan Papenhuyzen (Injured), Tyson Smoothy (Injured), Kenny Bromwich (Injured)

  • Melbourne Storm showed their incredible strength in depth as they were comfortable winners over Canberra Raiders last week despite missing their entire first-choice spine with that success extending their winning streak to eight matches.
  • Ryan Papenhuyzen, Cameron Munster and Harry Grant remain on the sidelines this week but there is some respite for the Storm with Jahrome Hughes set to return at halfback as they go in search of tenth successive victory over Brisbane Broncos.

THE PREDICTION

Melbourne Storm have dominated Brisbane Broncos in recent years and they will look to complete a tenth straight win over them in this clash. In their last three meetings, the aggregate score is 126-18 in the Storm’s favour which only serves to highlight their supremacy. Brisbane will come into this full of confidence after their surprise success over Sydney Roosters last week and while they will hope to build on that against an under-strength Melbourne, the reigning premiers have too much quality which has shown on their eight-match winning run and should prevail again here in a contest that produces over 44.5 points.
