- Canterbury Bulldogs put in a valiant display against Canberra Raiders last week and looked set to cause a huge upset at half-time but they were unable to go on with it in the second half as they succumbed to yet another defeat.
- It was the fifth loss in a row for the Bulldogs despite leading 12-20 at half-time but they allowed 22 unanswered points and to make matters worse for Canterbury, they conceded twice when the Raiders were down to 12 men following Tom Starling’s yellow card.
- After last week’s first half efforts, the Bulldogs have opted against making too many changes to their side with Luke Thompson and Jake Averillo both returning after they were rested and they replace Sione Katoa and Dean Britt.

- Gold Coast Titans produced a brilliant come-from-behind victory to defeat St. George Illawarra Dragons last week and they will take plenty of confidence from their efforts in that game as they face Canterbury Bulldogs.
- In a low-scoring game, the Titans trailed 2-0 at the break and that became 8-0 but they fought back with two tries in the final 10 minutes to snatch a 10-14 success which is little more than they deserved thanks to some brilliant defensive efforts.
- They saw just 45% of the ball and had to spend long periods defending their line but carried out their task superbly and their team is boosted significantly this week with the return of Jai Arrow from injury and Moeaki Fotuaika from suspension.
THE PREDICTION
Canterbury Bulldogs are still favourites to pick up the wooden spoon come the end of the season but they showed some good signs in last week’s defeat to Canberra Raiders and if they can back that up, they may be able to lift themselves off the foot of the ladder. They face a Gold Coast Titans outfit this week that will be another tough test for them but they will surely believe they can earn a rare two points. The Titans will have other ideas after earning a solid win last week and with their side boosted by the return to two key forwards, it is Gold Coast that can earn another win and put themselves into a great position to finish in the top 10.
