THE TEAM NEWS

SOUTH SYDNEY RABBITOHS

Head Coach: Wayne Bennett

Starting 13: Doueihi, Johnston, Graham, Gagai, Allan, Walker, Reynolds, S. Burgess, Cook, Knight, Sutton, Su’A, Murray – Interchanges: Lowe, Amone, Tatola, Nicholls – Reserves: Sironen, Tracey, Dillon, Hiroti

Unavailable: George Burgess, Braidon Burns, Tom Burgess, James Roberts, Kyle Turner

  • South Sydney produced an impressive display to defeat New Zealand Warriors and leave their top 4 fate in their own hands but face a tough ask to complete the job as they host bitter rivals Sydney Roosters.
  • Alex Johnston made a successful return for the Rabbitohs and his fitness could be key to his side's chances with the play-offs looming although he could be forced to remain on the wing with Adam Doueihi retaining the fullback jersey.
  • The Rabbitohs make just one change to last week’s winning side as Kyle Turner again picked up a knock so Tom Amone replaces him on the bench whilst James Roberts is still a week away from returning from a two-match ban.

SYDNEY ROOSTERS

Head Coach: Trent Robinson

Starting 13: Tedesco, Tupou, Mitchell, Manu, Morris, Keary, Cronk, Waerea-Hargreaves, Verrills, Liu, Cordner, Aubusson, Radley – Interchanges: Collins, Tetevano, Butcher, Crichton Reserves: Smith, Tupouniua, Faamausili, Hutchison

Unavailable: Jake Friend, Ryan Hall, Siosiua Taukeiaho

  • Sydney Roosters made it seven wins in a row as they claimed a comfortable victory over Penrith to officially secure a home semi-final and will now hope to head into the finals on the back of an eight-game winning run as they look to dent South Sydney’s top 4 ambitions.
  • The Roosters lost Cooper Cronk to a freak eye injury before last week's game but he should be fit enough to return for this one and will feature alongside Luke Keary in the halves unless there is any late drama.
  • There have been rumours floating around that Keary could be rested this week ahead of the play-offs but he was named in the team earlier in the week although there was no place for Siosiua Taukeiaho who has suffered a rib problem but skipper Boyd Cordner is finally back from a calf injury.

THE PREDICTION

These two old rivals could meet in the play-offs but first they must face each other in a mouth-watering clash to round off their regular season campaigns. The Rabbitohs have put in strong back-to-back displays but face an in-form Roosters side who can make it eight wins in a row here. They should be boosted by the return of Cooper Cronk and captain Boyd Cordner who will only add to an already impressive side that are in great form.
