THE TEAM NEWS

NEW ZEALAND WARRIORS

Head Coach: Stephen Kearney

Starting 13: Tuivasa-Sheck, Beale, Hiku, Ayshford, Maumalo, Harris-Tavita, Green, Paasi, Tevaga, Ah Mau, Blair, Papali’i, Burr – Interchanges: Keighran, Lisone, Afoa, Sao – Reserves: Curran, Pompey, Perham, Pulu

Unavailable: Tohu Harris, Nathaniel Roache, David Fusitu’a, Issac Luke, Karl Lawton, Kodi Nikorima

  • New Zealand Warriors lost their second game in succession as their play-off hopes took a big hit as they were swept aside by Canberra and now face an in-form Manly for a game that could have huge implications on their season.

  • Kodi Nikorima and Karl Lawton suffered ankle and shoulder injuries respectively last week and are out for the Warriors here with Chanel Harris-Tavita starting at five-eighth whilst Jazz Tevaga will start at hooker.

  • Ligi Sao is promoted to the bench following a long spell in reserve grade and will get his chance to shine and is joined by Adam Keighran but Josh Curran misses out this week after failing to grasp his chance.

MANLY-WARRINGAH SEA EAGLES

Head Coach: Des Hasler

Starting 13: T. Trbojevic, Taufua, Parker, Suli, Garrick, Walker, Cherry-Evans, Fonua-Blake, Koroisau, Taupau, Thompson, Sironen, J. Trbojevic – Interchanges: Fainu, Waddell, Boyle, Paseka – Reserves: Gosiewski, Croker, Elliot, Perrett

Unavailable: Albert Hopoate, Toafofoa Sipley

  • Manly have now won six times in their last seven matches as their tilt at a place at the top 4 continued after beating Newcastle and with those four teams above them all facing off this weekend, the Sea Eagles can make their move.

  • The Sea Eagles are in rude health and have named an unchanged side here after Apisai Koroisau made a successful return from injury which sees him retain the starting hooking role.

  • Manase Fainu will continue from the bench whilst Lachlan Croker continues to miss out following the form of Dylan Walker at five-eighth after he has developed a strong partnership in the halves with Daly Cherry-Evans.

THE PREDICTION

New Zealand Warriors capitulated on home soil last week and that performance did not go down well with head coach Stephen Kearney. His side now face another in-form side in Manly and it could spell more trouble for the Warriors with the Sea Eagles able to win again. The visitors have their sights set on a top 4 finish and if they continue their fine form with a seventh win from their last eight games, they will really put the pressure on those teams above them.
