THE TEAM NEWS

GOLD COAST TITANS

Interim Coaches: Craig Hodges/Luke Burt

Starting 13: Gordon, Don, Watkins, Copley, Sami, Roberts, Brimson, Wallace, Peats, Stockwell, Proctor, Cartwright, Whitbread – Interchanges: Peachey, Fotuaika, Latu, Stone – Reserves: Jacks, Rein, Matthews, Lee

Unavailable: Ryan James, Ash Taylor, Keegan Hipgrave, Jai Arrow, Shannon Boyd, Brian Kelly

  • Gold Coast could not overcome a weakened Melbourne side as they were soundly beat and now face another tough task of finding a win as they host Brisbane with their opponents desperate for the win.
  • AJ Brimson is a doubt for the Titans after suffering an injury to his lower back but early fears of a serious injury have been alleviated and having been named in the side 24 hours out from kick-off, he looks like he will take to the field.
  • Brian Kelly is out for the Titans which has prompted a reshuffle in the side with Anthony Don starting on the wing, Dale Copley moving into the centres and Kallum Watkins coming into the side to make his debut.

BRISBANE BRONCOS

Head Coach: Anthony Seibold

Starting 13: Milford, Oates, Staggs, Glenn, Isaako, Boyd, Turpin, Lodge, McCullough, Haas, Fifita, Gillett, Pangai Jnr. – Interchanges: Segeyaro, Ofahengaue, Kennedy, Carrigan – Reserves: Kennedy, Palasia, Farnworth, Coates, Shibasaki

Unavailable: Jack Bird, Tom Dearden, Richie Kennar, Sean O’Sullivan, Matt Gillett

  • Brisbane made it three games unbeaten as they ran out comfortable winners over Canterbury to keep their play-off hopes alive and head to Gold Coast with a win over their Queensland rivals further enhancing their chances.
  • Matt Gillett was left out of last week's side as a precaution due to a groin injury and although he was likely to return here, he has suffered a lower back injury during the week and will not play.
  • He is still named in the side for now but rookie Keenan Palasia is expected to come onto the bench to replace him with Joe Ofahengaue moving up to the run-on side where Alex Glenn will once again line-up in the centres.

THE PREDICTION

Brisbane could be picking up form at just the right time as they hunt down a play-off spot from an unlikely position. They still have plenty of work to do but with their performances improving every week, they will be confident of beating lowly Gold Coast. The Titans have revamped their back division this week and will hope the move pays off after struggling once again last week but with Brisbane needing the win to keep their play-off hopes alive, the Broncos should have too much.
