  • Brisbane's play-off hopes suffered a blow as they were narrowly defeated against South Sydney despite a late comeback attempt after wasting plenty of promising attacking positions once again.

  • The Broncos were set to name the same team as last week as they bid to get back to winning ways in a game that is critical to their top 8 hopes but they have suffered a huge blow with Joe Ofahengaue pulling out with a tight hamstring despite been named at lock.

  • Ofahengaue has failed a fitness test with Patrick Carrigan set to start in his place and Rhys Kennedy should be the man to be promoted to the bench when head coach Anthony Seibold names his revised team.

  • Parramatta suffered a disappointing defeat on home soil last week as they lost to Canterbury to end their four-match winning run which should extinguish any hope they had of finishing inside the top 4.

  • In a big blow to the Eels, they will be without Nathan Brown after the influential lock was handed a two-game ban for a shoulder charge which will pose Parramatta a big test to see how they cope without his presence in the pack.

  • The Eels will hope Brown’s loss can be tempered by the return of winger Blake Ferguson who is back for the first time since Round 17 with Brad Takairangi dropping to the bench whilst Peni Terepo returns to the bench in place of Tepai Moeroa.

THE PREDICTION

This could be do-or-die for Brisbane's chances of making the play-offs as they host Parramatta in their final home game of the regular season. The Broncos currently hold the last spot in the top 8 and will come under huge pressure if they fail to win this but they can just do enough. They will have to improve their attacking play in their final two games to seal their play-off spot but Parramatta’s confidence may have taken a knock with their defeat to Canterbury last week which can see the Broncos capitalise.
