THE TEAM NEWS

HULL KR

  • Hull KR come into this Challenge Cup final refreshed after they opted to rest the bulk of their 17 for this Wembley showpiece in their Super League clash with Wigan Warriors last week.
  • Rovers will not be worried by that 64-6 loss having won their prior three in all competitions, including a thrilling golden point success against the Warriors in the semi-final. Ryan Hall is the big injury worry for the Robins with the veteran winger hoping to prove his fitness ahead of this clash.

LEIGH LEOPARDS

  • Leigh Leopards have been the surprise package in 2023 and could cap off a superb season to date by landing a piece of silverware having not won this trophy since 1971.
  • The Leopards took a different to that of their opponents in their respective matchups last week as they only rested a handful of first-choice stars and they appear to have come through that game unscathed with the likes of Zak Hardaker and Josh Charnley set to return for this encounter.

THE PREDICTION

Hull KR and Leigh Leopards will do battle to end their long droughts for silverware as they go head-to-head in the Challenge Cup final at Wembley. Rovers have not won a major trophy since 1985 while you have to go back over 50 years since Leigh claimed Challenge Cup success. Both come into this with some form behind them but it has been billed as a genuine 50/50 affair. Rovers appear to have put a disappointing spell behind them while the Leopards have won 14 of their last 16 in all competitions. That form may count for little under the pressure of the game but Leigh’s performances this season give them the edge and they are the slight preference to prevail.
