World number 19 Ross Smith returns to Ally Pally and he will be eager to put in a good showing this time around. He has reached the third round on his last three visits and after winning the 2024 European Darts Grand Prix, he comes in with good confidence this year.

He meets Philippine star Paolo Nebrida who finally got a win at Ally Pally at the third time of asking. He found a way to win against Jim Williams on Wednesday despite averaging just 86.63 compared to his opponent’s 94.1. They had similar checkout percentages too but Nebrida managed to produce when it mattered the most to scrape a 3-2 win.

This time around against an opponent of the calibre of Smith, he will not get any second chances nor come close to winning with those kinds of percentages. Assuming Smith gets going quickly enough, expect him to win either 3-0 or 3-1 here.
