Roma Preview: Ranieri’s Romans
After coming out of retirement to become Roma’s third permanent manager of the campaign during the November international break, Claudio Ranieri has massively improved the form and performance level of the Giallorossi as they chase European qualification once again this year.
They have moved themselves into contention for a top four finish alongside Bologna, Juventus and Lazio. Their most recent outing saw them edge past Lecce by a goal to nil in Apulia last weekend to make it seven successive victories in Serie A.
Juventus Preview: Tudor’s Juventus
Juventus, following back-to-back defeats by an aggregate of seven goals to nil against Atalanta and Fiorentina before the March international break, took the decision to part company with manager Thiago Motta, who had joined from Bologna last summer.
Motta has been replaced by former Hellas Verona and Olympique de Marseille boss Igor Tudor and the former Croatia international began his reign in Turin with a slender victory over Genoa at the J Stadium last weekend courtesy of a 25th minute strike from Kenan Yildiz.
Roma Team News: Saelemaekers suspended
Belgium international wing-back Alexis Saelemaekers, on loan from AC Milan, is missing through suspension for Roma this weekend and they also have key injury absentees, too, such as Saud Abdulhamid, Devyne Rensch and Paulo Dybala.
Predicted XI (3-4-2-1): Svilar; Mancini, Hummels, Ndicka; Gourna-Douath, Kone, Cristante, Angelino; Matias Soule, Pellegrini; Dovbyk
Unavailable: Abdulhamid (Injured), Rensch (Injured), Saelemaekers (Suspended), Dybala (Injured)
Questionable: Celik (Injured)
Juventus Team News: A few injuries
Juventus have a couple of fresh injury concerns including Italy international centre-back Federico Gatti, who is now sidelined due to a leg injury. They also have key doubts such as Andrea Cambiaso and Douglas Luiz. Tudor has switched back to a back three since arriving.
Predicted XI (3-4-2-1): Di Gregorio; Kalulu, Veiga, Kelly; Gonzalez, Locatelli, Thuram, McKennie; Koopmeiners, Yildiz; Vlahovic
Unavailable: Gatti (Injured), Bremer (Injured), Juan Cabal (Injured), Milik (Injured)
Questionable: Cambiaso (Injured), Douglas Luiz (Injured)
Roma vs Juventus Prediction
If it hadn’t been for such a poor start to the campaign under Daniele De Rossi and then Ivan Juric, Roma could well be in a title race if their form under Ranieri was to be extrapolated to the opening few months of the campaign. They now take on a Juve side that appear to be wanting to play a more cohesive style in terms of attack but, against a tight Genoa side, found it tough to break them down last weekend. Given their form and home advantage, siding with the Romans looks the way to go for this one in a low-scoring affair at the Stadio Olimpico.
Roma vs Juventus Tip: Roma to win & under 3.5 goals
