Roma Preview: Ranieri’s Romans

As mentioned, Claudio Ranieri came out of retirement in November to become Roma’s third permanent manager of the campaign and the Giallorossi begin this weekend’s round of fixtures pushing for UEFA Champions League qualification, propelling away from a relegation battle.

The Romans were held to a 1-1 draw in the Derby della Capitale by arch-rivals Lazio at the Stadio Olimpico last weekend. That means Roma have now suffered just one defeat in their last 13 matches across all competitions.

Hellas Verona Preview: Win or bust Verona

Throughout this season, it has been win or bust for Hellas Verona. In their 32 matches so far this season, they have won as many games as top-half Torino but only rock-bottom and relegation-bound Monza have lost more often than them.

The visitors’ most recent outing saw them share a third successive draw, though, as they were held to a goalless draw by Patrick Vieira’s stubborn Genoa side. They had only drawn twice before that run of three successive draws.

Roma Team News: Dybala out

Former Frosinone attacking midfielder Matias Soule has performed well this season and shown signs of being the ideal Paulo Dybala replacement, which is ideal because Dybala remains sidelined for Roma, whilst Saudi Arabia international defender Saud Abdulhamid is a doubt.

Predicted XI (4-2-3-1): Svilar; Celik, Mancini, Ndicka, Angelino; Kone, Paredes; Matias Soule, Pellegrini, Saelemaekers; Dovbyk

Unavailable: Dybala (Injured)

Questionable: Abdulhamid (Injured)

Hellas Verona Team News: A few injuries

Hellas Verona are dealing with a few key injury concerns ahead of the trip to Olimpico this weekend with Benfica loanee Casper Tengstedt still sidelined alongside the likes of midfield duo Abdou Harroui and Tomas Suslov.

Predicted XI (3-5-2): Montipo; Ghilardi, Coppola, Valentini; Tchatchoua, Duda, Dawidowicz, Bernede, Bradaric; Dailon Livramento, Daniel Mosquera

Unavailable: Harroui (Injured), Suslov (Injured), Tengstedt (Injured)

Questionable: Niasse (Injured), Sarr (Injured)

Roma vs Hellas Verona Prediction

Roma, as mentioned, have been very impressive throughout the last few months and they are challenging towards the top end of the table once again as they seek a return to UEFA Champions League qualification. They now face a Hellas Verona side that have seemingly steadied themselves of late so may be able to frustrate the Romans but Ranieri’s men remain firm favourites for this one in the capital city.

Roma vs Hellas Verona Tip: Roma to win & under 3.5 goals
