Richard Gasquet vs Flavio Cobolli prediction

Richard Gasquet staged a fine comeback against Botic van de Zandschulp, coming from a set and a double break down to win 4-6 7-5 6-1. The Dutchman also served for the match, but Gasquet battled back to win and make it through to the second round. 

Flavio Cobolli earned a bye and begins his tournament at the second-round stage. The Italian has not enjoyed a good season so far, with first-round defeats at Rotterdam, the Mexican Open, Indian Wells and Miami. Cobolli even struggled at the Pheonix Challenger despite being the second seed, stumbling past Eliot Spizzirri in three sets before losing to Kei Nishikori in the quarter-finals.

The 22-year-old must hope his fortunes change on clay, where he has made three finals on the Challenger Tour, including a win as a 19-year-old in Zadar in 2022. We think Gasquet may have the game to trouble Cobolli for at least a set but we’re still backing the third seed, who is sixteen years his junior, to eventually pull through and advance.
