Rennes Preview: Intensity needed
With former Argentina, Chile, Olympique de Marseille and Sevilla boss Jorge Sampaoli appointed over the November international break, Stade Rennais have started his reign with two defeats on the road sandwiching a 5-0 demolition of Saint-Etienne.
The Argentine coach has been known for his hostility and combustibility with an aggressive and intense style of football that was a lot calmer and underwhelming in charge of Sevilla. He got his style against Saint-Etienne but they struggled to create against Lille and Nantes.
Angers Preview: Struggling Angers
Coached by Alexandre Dujeux, newly-promoted Angers begin this weekend’s round of fixtures sitting just outside of the bottom three and the danger zone with three victories, four draws and seven defeats in their opening 14 matches of the 2024/25 Ligue 1 campaign.
The visitors come into this one on the back of a 3-0 hammering at the hands of Olympique Lyonnais at Stade Raymond Kopa in their most recent outing last weekend thanks to strikes from Nicolas Tagliafico, Rayan Cherki and Georges Mikautadze.
Rennes Team News: Seidu injury
Alidu Seidu sustained an ACL injury in Jorge Sampaoli’s opening game in charge of Rennes a few weeks ago as they suffered a 1-0 loss to Lille at Stade Pierre-Mauroy. As well as the absence of Seidu, Mikayll Faye is missing through suspension.
Predicted XI (3-4-2-1): Mandanda; Hateboer, Ostigard, Wooh; Assignon, James, Matusiwa, Truffert; Blas, Gouiri; Kalimuendo
Unavailable: Seidu (Injured), Faye (Suspended)

Rennes vs Angers Prediction
Rennes are a side that are expected to be an entertaining and intense side to watch with Jorge Sampaoli at the helm. The hosts have struggled on the road but they hammered Saint-Etienne a couple of weeks ago. They now face an Angers side that are struggling badly throughout this campaign and, despite an improvement as the season has gone on, Rennes are expected to win once again with their home advantage.
