Stade de Reims are expected to kick on in 2025 with an easy on the eye style of football as they now prepare to take on the INEOS-owned Nice that are underperforming this weekend.

Reims Preview: Reims’ rise

Slovenian coach Luka Elsner, formerly of Le Havre, is in charge of a Stade de Reims side that have been flirting with a tilt at the top six and the European spots but they now begin this weekend’s round of fixtures sitting in the bottom-half of Ligue 1.

Reims come into this one on the back of a poor 3-1 defeat to struggling Saint-Etienne at the Stade Geoffrey-Guichard in their most recent outing last weekend. They are now winless in their last five matches in the league.

Nice Preview: Searching for consistency

Following the seemingly impressive coup of appointing Lens boss Franck Haise over the summer, Nice have been a little underwhelming so far this season as the southerners begin this weekend’s round of fixtures sitting outside of the top five.

They come into this one, though, on the back of an impressive result as they entertainingly defeated Stade Rennais by three goals to two at the Allianz Riviera last weekend. That means they have suffered just three defeats in their last 12 matches across all competitions.

Reims Team News: Key attacking injuries

Former Ajax attacker Mohamed Daramy remains sidelined alongside former Brighton and Hove Albion winger Reda Khadra, with both dealing with knee injuries. Amadou Kone is also out injured, whilst Abdoul Kone is a doubt.

Predicted XI (4-3-3): Diouf; Buta, Kipre, De Smet, Sergio Akieme; Atangana, Moscardo, Munetsi; Ito, Diakite, Nakamura

Unavailable: Am. Kone (Injured), Fofana (Injured), Daramy (Injured), Khadra (Injured)

Questionable: Ab. Kone (Injured)

Nice Team News: Rosario suspension

In that aforementioned defeat of Rennes last weekend, Pablo Rosario was sent off late on and he is now missing through suspension. They also have some key injury doubts such as Moise Bombito and Jeremie Boga.

Predicted XI (4-2-3-1): Bulka; Mendy, Ndayishimiye, Abdelmonem; Bard; Boudaoui, Ndombele; Guessand, Bouanani, Diop; Laborde

Unavailable: Rosario (Suspended), Moffi (Injured)

Questionable: Moise Bombito (Injured), Abdi (Injured), Sanson (Injured), Louchet (Injured), Boga (Injured), Orakpo (Injured)

Reims vs Nice Prediction

Stade de Reims will fancy their chances of eventually kicking on towards the top six or seven and the European spots last season with their fade into mid-table last season the reason for Will Still’s departure over the summer. They, though, face a Nice side that have invested a lot into their squad and, after a mini pre-season over the winter break, should have clicked a bit more to Haise’s style and system with a double chance bet in favour of this bet looking good value for this one.

Reims vs Nice Tip: Double chance – Nice to win or draw
