Reims Preview: Reims need a run

Following the departure of Will Still from Stade de Reims over the summer and the appointment of Slovenian coach Luka Elsner from Le Havre, the hosts have performed quite well as they begin this weekend’s round of fixtures sitting tucked inside the top-half of Ligue 1.

The home team come into this one on the back of a goalless draw against Strasbourg in their most recent outing last weekend and that followed a 2-0 loss to the aforementioned Still’s Lens. They have now managed just one win in their last seven matches in the top-flight.

Monaco Preview: Foot down on the Monegasque

Former Borussia Monchengladbach manager Adi Hutter has his Monaco side currently sitting tucked inside the top three and the UEFA Champions League spots. They begin the match day sitting just five points behind unbeaten defending champions Paris Saint-Germain.

The Monegasque have been wobbling of late but their most recent outing in Ligue 1 saw them defeat Toulouse by two goals to nil at Stade Louis II last weekend thanks to two second-half strikes; the first being defender Wilfried Singo and second from Aleksandr Golovin.

Reims Team News: Several issues

The home team are dealing with several injury concerns as they await the visit of Monaco. Former Brighton and Hove Albion winger Reda Khadra had returned from injury but he is now sidelined alongside the likes of Abdoul Kone and Mohamed Daramy.

Predicted XI (4-2-3-1): Diouf; Buta, Agbadou, Kipre, Sergio Akieme; Atangana, Am. Kone; Ito, Munetsi, Nakamura; Diakite

Unavailable: Ab. Kone (Injured), Khadra (Injured), Daramy (Injured)

Questionable: Okumi (Injured), Busi (Injured)

Monaco Team News: Zakaria blow

Monaco welcome back Wilfried Singo and Christian Mawissa to the squad after the pair were suspended in Monaco's Champions League defeat to Arsenal on Wednesday. Fellow defender Vanderson, however, will miss out with a domestic ban.

Club captain Denis Zakaria pulled up in the warm-up last weekend and will be a significant loss in the middle of the park should he not recover.

Predicted XI (4-2-3-1): Majecki; Teze, Singo, Kehrer, Caio Henrique; Matazo, Camara; Akliouche, Minamino, Golovin; Ilenikhena

Unavailable: Vanderson (Suspended), Coulibaly (Injured), Diatta (Injured)

Questionable: Zakaria (Injured), Diop (Injured), Balogun (Injured)

Reims vs Monaco Prediction

The aforementioned Elsner has impressive and progressive ideals with Reims trying to play on the front foot as they welcome Monaco. They will try and play quite an attacking style of football against anyone but that may well play into the hands of Monaco who will fancy their chances of exploiting any space with their abundance of technicians in the final third. This may well be worth watching for the neutral.

Reims vs Monaco Tip: Over 2.5 goals
