Reims Preview: Reims need a run

At the start of the season, to replace Will Still, Stade de Reims appointed Slovenian coach Luka Elsner from Le Havre and he started very well but a major collapse through the middle of the season has seen him replaced by Samba Diawara.

Diawara’s first game saw Reims defeat Angers on penalties in the quarter-finals of the Coupe de France but he remains winless in Ligue 1. They did end their losing streak before the March international break with a goalless draw against Stade Brest.

Marseille Preview: De Zerbi’s Marseille

Olympique de Marseille have put together an exciting and controversial squad as they sit tucked inside the top three and look to regain qualification for the UEFA Champions League. L’OM have scored the second most goals in the league behind Paris Saint-Germain.

However, the visitors now come into this one on the back of three defeats in their last four matches and they were most recently beaten 3-1 by PSG at the Parc des Princes due to goals from Ousmane Dembele, Nuno Mendes and a Pol Lirola own goal.

Reims Team News: Midfield issues

On-loan defensive midfielder Gabriel Moscardo is an injury doubt for this one alongside Malta international Teddy Teuma. Former Brighton and Hove Albion man Reda Khadra is definitely sidelined alongside former Ajax winger Mohamed Daramy, too.

Predicted XI (4-5-1): Diouf; Sekine, Okumu, Kipre, Sergio Akieme; Diakhon, Atangana, Gbane, Kone, Nakamura; Ibrahim

Unavailable: Fofana (Injured), Khadra (Injured), Daramy (Injured)

Questionable: Gabriel Moscardo (Injured), Teuma (Injured)

Marseille Team News: Midfield issues

Marseille are dealing with some midfield issues ahead of the trip to Reims this weekend as Denmark international Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg remains sidelined alongside Amine Harit, whilst Ismael Bennacer, on loan from Milan, remains a doubt, too.

Predicted XI (3-4-2-1): Rulli; Luiz Felipe, Balerdi, Cornelius; Luiz Henrique, Rongier, Kondogbia, Dedic; Nadir, Rabiot; Gouiri

Unavailable: Ruben Blanco (Injured), Michael Amir Murillo (Injured), Mbemba (Injured), Hojbjerg (Injured), Harit (Injured), Moumbagna (Injured)

Questionable: Bennacer (Injured)

Reims vs Marseille Prediction

Stade de Reims have been very underwhelming throughout the campaign despite positive signs under Elsner at the start of the campaign. They have collapsed now, though, and are in a fight to preserve their Ligue 1 status. They face a Marseille side that have been inconsistent this season, capable of winning these games by four or five but also suffering some fairly humbling and humiliating results. After a break, siding with the former of those two Jekyll and Hyde characteristics would be the way to go.
