Reilly Opelka vs Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard Prediction

Reilly Opelka produced a stunning display on Friday to beat Serb legend Novak Djokovic 7-6 6-3. The 211cm-tall American blasted 16 aces and won 92% on his second serve as he managed to edge the first-set tiebreak and then grab a break in the second to win out.

That win arguably represents the biggest victory in Opelka’s career and that will give him a huge lift coming into the semi-finals.

He now takes on French talent Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard who came through a tough quarter-final match with Jakub Mensik 7-5 7-6. He has had a tough route to the semis as he has also beaten Frances Tiafoe and Nick Kyrgios to reach this stage and he must now beat Djokovic’s victor if he is to get to the final.

The pair have never met before so there is no real measurement from that perspective, but we like the Frenchman’s energy and form right now. He ended 2024 in strong form and he has beaten some quality opponents so far this week. Opponents are finding it almost impossible to generate any break opportunities on his serve yet he is fashioning some on theirs.

Expect potentially multiple tiebreaks here and we have to lean to Mpetshi Perricard to get the win and progress to the final.
