Reilly Opelka continued his fine start to 2025 with his 7-6 6-4 win over Alexander Shevchenko in the first round. The giant American dominated with his serve as usual with a stunning 18 aces and he was efficient with his return game as he generated one break point and took it.

He now meets Britain’s Cam Norrie who produced a stirring display to beat talented American Alex Michelsen. Despite losing the first set, Norrie showed great character to come from behind and win the next two sets.

He now meets Opelka who he has played three times before on the ATP Tour. Those meetings came between 2020 and 2022 and it was Norrie who edges the head-to-head 2-1.

The last match saw both sets go to tiebreaks and it would be no surprise if this match follows a similar pattern. Opelka’s serve is on fire right now and opponents are finding it tough to handle. Norrie is capable of finding solutions but that is most likely to come in tiebreaks if he does.
