Real Valladolid Preview: Rock-bottom Valladolid

Real Valladolid begin this weekend’s round of fixtures sitting rock-bottom in La Liga and last week took the decision to sack Uruguayan coach Paulo Pezzolano after gaining promotion with him last season despite supporters often giving him heavy criticism throughout the campaign.

Valladolid have, at the time of writing, still got Alvaro Rubio in caretaker charge of the Pucelanos. They come into this one on the back of a 2-1 loss to Las Palmas last weekend with Sandro Ramirez scoring a brace either side of a Marcos Andre equaliser before half-time.

Valencia Preview: Valencian difficulties

Following the devastating flooding last month, Valencia have been hit by tragedy this season with the club battling against relegation from La Liga once again amid protests against controversial owner Peter Lim.

The Valencians did get a win against Real Betis upon their first game back to action after a couple of postponements but they have now suffered back-to-back losses with their most recent outing being a 1-0 defeat to Rayo Vallecano at Mestalla via a Pathe Ciss winner.

Real Valladolid Team News: Comert suspension

Former Valencia centre-back Eray Comert is missing through suspension for this weekend with Morocco international midfielder Selim Amallah out injured. Former Newcastle United man as well as Raul Moro are also injury doubts for this weekend.

Predicted XI (4-1-4-1): Hein; Lucas Perez, Ozkacar, Javi Sanchez, Rosa; Juric; Ivan Sanchez, Mario Martin, Kike Perez, Sylla; Marcos Andre

Unavailable: Comert (Suspended), Amallah (Injured)

Questionable: Kenedy (Injured), Raul Moro (Injured)

Valencia Team News: Defensive injuries

Club captain Jose Luis Gaya is a doubt for this weekend’s trip to Estadio Jose Zorrilla with several other injury concerns for the Valencians such as Maximiliano Caufriez, Dimitri Foulquier, Thierry Correia and Mouctar Diakhaby.

Predicted XI (3-4-3): Mamardashvili; Carlos Tarrega, Cristhian Mosquera, Gasiorowski; Diego Lopez, Barrenechea, Javi Guerra, Sergi Canos; Luis Rioja, Hugo Duro, Pepelu

Unavailable: Diakhaby (Injured), Correia (Injured), Caufriez (Injured), Foulquier (Injured)

Questionable: Jose Luis Gaya (Injured)

Real Valladolid vs Valencia Prediction

The fact that Valladolid remain manager-less, despite their best efforts, perhaps speaks volumes about the situation that they are in as they are drifting towards relegation. They have struggled for consistency in selection as well as their performances. Valencia will believe they have enough to get themselves out of trouble but they will have to ensure they win games like this, and they should do, to eventually drag themselves clear.
