Real Valladolid Preview: Struggling Valladolid
Ronaldo is the president and chairman of Real Valladolid and the best piece of business that he did over the summer was keep Uruguayan coach Paulo Pezzolano in situ but the pressure is now growing on him and Ronaldo himself is the subject of rumours linking him with taking a significant role with the Brazilian football federation.
On the pitch, Valladolid begin this weekend’s round of fixtures sitting rock-bottom after 14 matches of the 2024/25 La Liga campaign with just two victories so far this season. The home team come into this one on the back of a disappointing 2-0 loss to Getafe at the Coliseum last weekend.
Atletico Madrid Preview: Rampant Los Rojiblancos
Diego Simeone is the longest serving coach in Spanish football but has come under intense scrutiny this season with Atletico Madrid’s inconsistent start to this season but the visitors continued their improved run of form at the weekend with a 6-0 demolition of Sparta Prague in the Czech capital in the UEFA Champions League in midweek.
That impressive win against Sparta came after Atletico had come from behind to defeat Deportivo Alaves at the Metropolitano by two goals to one last weekend. Those victories since returning from the November international break mean Atleti have now enjoyed seven wins in their last ten matches across all competitions.
Real Valladolid Team News: Amallah doubt
Paulo Pezzolano has been criticised a fair bit this season for too much rotation throughout the campaign so he will want to create a more settled side moving forward.
They do have one injury concern for this week’s visit of Atletico as Morocco international defensive midfielder Selim Amallah a potential absentee for this one.
Predicted XI (5-4-1): Hein; Lucas Perez, Juma Bah, Javi Sanchez, Ozkacar, Rosa; Raul Moro, Juric, Kike Perez, Anuar; Sylla

Questionable: Amallah (Injured)
Atletico Madrid Team News: Rotation ago
Atletico Madrid have heavily rotated throughout this season under Diego Simeone and that is expected to be the case once again with a midweek round of fixtures to come.
They have a couple of defensive injury issues for this weekend with both Robin Le Normand and Nahuel Molina sidelined alongside France international midfielder Thomas Lemar.
Predicted XI (4-4-2): Oblak; Cesar Azpilicueta, Witsel, Lenglet, Javi Galan; Marcos Llorente, Pablo Barrios, Koke, Samuel Lino; Angel Correa, Griezmann
Unavailable: Le Normand (Injured), Nahuel Molina (Injured), Lemar (Injured)

Real Valladolid vs Atletico Madrid Prediction
Real Valladolid come into this one in a desperate situation and they just appear a level below the top-flight at the moment, as shown by how comfortably they were beaten by a fairly average Getafe side last weekend. Atletico Madrid can fluctuate from being scintillating and efficient to the naturally dull style of ‘Cholismo’. Atletico should still go and win this one but it may be a less comfortable win than their 6-0 victory in midweek.
Real Valladolid vs Atletico Madrid Tip: Atletico Madrid to win & under 3.5 goals
