Real Mallorca Preview: Majorcan magic

Former Osasuna boss Jago Arrasate took charge of Real Mallorca over the summer with the Balearic Islanders looking to evolve their style away from new Mexico boss Javier Aguirre as they push for a top seven finish and potential UEFA Europa Conference League qualification.

The home team come into this one on the back of a 2-1 defeat of Valencia over the weekend at Son Moix with goals from Cyle Larin and Abdon turning the game on its head to make it back-to-back victories for the Majorcans.

Barcelona Preview: Concerns for Barca

Hansi Flick’s reign in charge of Barcelona have been extremely impressive at the start of this season and they do still begin this week’s round of fixtures sitting at the top-of-the-table but their form has majorly wobbled either side of the November international break.

The Blaugrana most recently suffered a shock 2-1 defeat at home to Las Palmas at Estadi Olympic Lluis Companys in their most recent outing at the weekend. The Catalans blew a two-goal lead at Celta before that and lost to Real Sociedad a few weeks ago, too.

Real Mallorca Team News: No Toni Lato

Former Valencia defender Toni Lato is unavailable for this weekend’s clash with Barcelona due to a hamstring injury. They also have a couple of key injury doubts including Japan international Takuma Asano. Vedat Muriqi has, though, returned from suspension.

Predicted XI (4-2-3-1): Greif; Mateu Morey, Valjent, Antonio Raillo, Johan Mojica; Manu Morlanes, Costa; Ruben Navarro, Dani Rodriguez, Sergi Darder; Larin

Unavailable: Toni Lato (Injured)

Questionable: Ivan Cuellar (Injured), Asano (Injured)

Barcelona Team News: The return of Lamine

There is an over reliance on 17-year-old Lamine Yamal and he has now returned from injury but the Blaugrana are still without a few other key first-teamers as Ronald Araujo, Alex Balde and Marc Bernal are all out sidelined.

Predicted XI (4-2-3-1): Inaki Pena; Kounde, Pau Cubarsi, Inigo Martinez, Gerard Martin; Marc Casado, Pedri; Lamine Yamal, Dani Olmo, Raphinha; Lewandowski

Unavailable: Christensen (Injured), Ronald Araujo (Injured), Alex Balde (Injured), Marc Bernal (Injured), Ansu Fati (Injured)

Questionable:

Real Mallorca vs Barcelona Prediction

Real Mallorca will try to take the game to Barcelona and they have been entertaining to watch throughout this campaign. They have an impressive and creative squad that has also discovered some improved potency and efficiency in attack. Barcelona will be concerned that their high line will be exploited by Mallorca in Palma this week so will fear conceding even if Barcelona do remain heavy favourites to end their current three-match winless streak in Spain’s top-flight.
