Real Madrid have competed in eight UEFA Champions League finals since the tournament’s rebrand back in 1992, winning all eight. Formerly known as the European Cup, Los Blancos have won the competition a record 15 times, over half of those under the Champions League banner.
Below are all eight Champions League finals involving Real Madrid since 1992.

A final that will forever be known for Zinedine Zidane’s spectacular left-footed volley, one of the greatest Champions League goals of all time.
The Frenchman’s wonder-strike on the stroke of half-time proved to be the winning goal at Hampden Park following a frenetic start, which saw Real Madrid take the lead on eight minutes through Raul, before Bayer Leverkusen’s Lucio equalised soon after.
Real Madrid 4-1 (aet) Atletico Madrid - 2013-14 Champions League final - May 24th 2014
After a 12-year-spell without appearing in European football’s showcase event, Real Madrid returned to the Champions League final in 2024, beating inter-city rivals Atletico Madrid 4-1 after overwhelming their opponents in extra-time following a last-gasp equaliser.
Trailing by a goal to nil for much of the match, Sergio Ramos’ header in the 93rd minute saved Carlo Ancelotti’s men, whose momentum saw them dominate extra time. Gareth Bale gave Los Blancos the lead before Marcelo and Cristiano Ronaldo helped seal victory in Lisbon.
Real Madrid p1-1 (aet) Atletico Madrid - 2015-16 Champions League final - May 28th 2016
Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid met again in the Champions League final two years later, with this one going the distance after finishing 1-1 after extra time. Once again, Sergio Ramos was on the scoresheet for Real, before his 15thminute opener was cancelled out by Yannick Carrasco with 11 minutes of normal time remaining.
With the two teams unable to be separated, a penalty shootout followed at the San Siro and Zinedine Zidane’s side held their nerve, scoring all five of their spot kicks as Juanfran saw his (and Atletico’s fourth) penalty cannon off the post, leading to a 5-3 Real triumph.
Juventus 1-4 Real Madrid - 2016-17 Champions League final - June 3rd 2017
Cristiano Ronaldo was the headline act of the 2016-27 final as Real Madrid and Zidane sealed back-to-back Champions League titles. Italian side Juventus, captained by legendary goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon couldn’t prevent Ronaldo breaking the deadlock in the 20th minute, although they did equalise seven minutes later through Mario Mandzukic.
But the Spanish giants found an extra gear in the second half and two goals in three minutes from Ronaldo and Casemiro effectively settled the game. Marco Asensio added a fourth in stoppage time to complete the rout.
Real Madrid 3-1 Liverpool - 2017-18 Champions League final - May 26th 2018
History was made in Ukraine as Real Madrid under Zinedine Zidane became the first team in the Champions League era to win the competition three years in a row, an achievement not seen since Bayern Munich’s three consecutive European Cup victories from 1974-1976.
All four goals came in the second half, with Liverpool goalkeeper Loris Karius gifting Karim Benzema an opening goal, although it was quickly cancelled out by Liverpool’s Sadio Mane.
But Real Madrid rallied and substitute Gareth Bale’s incredible bicycle saw them retake the lead, a goal to rival Zidane’s against Bayer Leverkusen in 2002. Bale scored his second and Real’s third to seal their win in the 83rd minute after his long-range strike burst through Karius’ hands.
Liverpool 0-1 Real Madrid - 2021-22 Champions League final - May 28th 2022
The lowest scoring of Real Madrid’s eight Champions League finals. Back under the command of Carlo Ancelotti, a brilliant goalkeeping performance by Thibaut Courtois, added by an excellent defensive rear-guard saw them defeat Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool once again, this time by a single goal.
Vinicius Junior’s scored the winner just before the hour mark in Paris, turning home Federico Valverde’s low-driven cross.

With 16 minutes of regulation time remaining, Toni Kroos’ corner was headed in by Dani Carvajal, Kroos assisting in the final game of his club career. Ancelotti’s men then sealed the deal with seven minutes to go, Vinicius Junior scoring in his second Champions League final.
