Raymond van Barneveld vs Nick Kenny Prediction
He may not be the player he once was but Raymond van Barneveld is still a huge draw in darts and has shown the odd glimpse of the old magic over the last couple of years. When it comes to the worlds, the five-time champion often produces some of his best form and it took an inspired Luke Littler to stop him in the fourth round last year.
Barney’s most notable showing in 2024 was a quarter-final appearance at the inaugural Swiss Darts Trophy, where he lost to eventual champion Martin Schindler, but he has suffered several early exits in the bigger events.
Clinical Nick Kenny dispatched Stowe Buntz in straight sets on Thursday, converting 50% of his attempts at a double to reach round two for the second time in his career. This comes after a year in which he achieved his best result on the European Tour when he reached the quarter-finals of the German Darts Championship.
There’s an added spice to this match with Kenny being unimpressed by some recent comments that Van Barneveld made regarding who he may face further down the line in the tournament. The Welshman will therfore be fired up to make life difficult for Barney, but the Dutch legend should prevail.
