Quillan Salkilld: Contender Series grad looking to win on UFC debut
Quillan Salkilld (7-1) picked up a unanimous decision win over Gauge Young in Dana White’s Contender Series in September to earn his shot in the UFC. He now makes his promotional debut in his native Australia and he will be eager to produce the goods in front of his home crowd. After losing his first-ever professional MMA bout in February 2021, Salkilld has won his last seven fights and he will be hoping to make it number eight in the biggest fight of his career.
Anshul Jubli: Indian star coming off first pro MMA loss
Anshul Jubli (7-1) will have to bounce back from his first professional MMA loss as he was knocked out by Mike Breeden at UFC 294 in October 2023. The Indian had a bout scheduled for April 2024 but he pulled out of that for unknown reasons so it will be some 16 months since he last fought in the Octagon. The Road to UFC Season 1 Lightweight Tournament winner will now have to shake off any rust and rebound from the knockout loss as he faces the dangerous Salkilld.
Quillan Salkilld vs Anshul Jubli Prediction
The UFC 312 card gets underway with a crowd favourite as Australia’s Quillan Salkilld gets the action started against Anshul Jubli.
This feels like a match that has been made to get the crowd pumped right from the start and it is a favourable match-up for Salkilld. The Aussie has momentum on his side and the Perth native will be keen to get a win and ideally a stoppage under his belt.
We think he will do just that. Jubli is coming off a knockout loss and has not fought in well over a year. Salkilld should overpower him and we expect him to win and stop Jubli.
Prediction: Quillan Salkilld to win by KO/TKO or submission
