Qinwen Zheng vs Iga Swiatek Prediction
The elbow injury that had been troubling Qinwen Zheng over the past couple of months looks like it is behind her now as the Chinese eighth seed has looked in impressive shape at Indian Wells so far.
Zheng followed up her straight-sets wins over Victoria Azarenka and Lulu Sun with a 6-3, 6-2 triumph over Marta Kostyuk in the round of 16, but she must now face an opponent she has lost to six times out of seven career meetings.
Iga Swiatek has been in typically ruthless form in the first few rounds, having dropped just six games across her three matches to date – wins against Caroline Garcia, Dayana Yastremska and most recently Karolina Muchova.
Despite her losing record against Swiatek, Zheng can take heart from the fact that she won their most recent meeting in the semi-finals of last year’s Olympic Games in Paris. However, that was a clay-court contest, and Swiatek has generally dominated their hard-court meetings. With that in mind, there is extra value to be had in backing a straight-sets win for the second seed.
Qinwen Zheng vs Iga Swiatek Tip: Iga Swiatek to win 2-0
