PSV Eindhoven Preview: Peter Bosz’ PSV

PSV Eindhoven come into this one on the back of a continuation of their really average domestic form with a 2-1 defeat to Go Ahead Eagles in the semi-finals of the KNVB Cup last week being followed up by a 3-2 loss to the same opposition in the Eredivisie at the weekend.

That means PSV have managed just one victory in their last six matches across all competitions with that one win being the aforementioned win over Juventus in extra-time after they had lost to Juventus in Turin in the first-leg.

Arsenal Preview: Arsenal left frustrated

Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal had themselves a much-needed week off at the weekend with the focus in England turning to the fifth round of the FA Cup and the Gunners having already been knocked out of that competition by Manchester United in the third round.

As well as not being in the FA Cup, they lost their EFL Cup semi-final to Newcastle United and have also now seen the gap between themselves and Premier League leaders Liverpool opened up to 13 points with the UEFA Champions League now their best chance of silverware.

PSV Eindhoven Team News: American injuries

Ahead of the visit of Arsenal this week, PSV are still without their trio of United States internationals as Sergino Dest remains sidelined alongside Malik Tillman and Ricardo Pepi. Mauro Junior is a doubt due to illness for the hosts, too.

Predicted XI (4-3-3): Benitez; Ledezma, Flamingo, Boscagli, Junior; Veerman, Saibari, Schouen; Perisic, De Jong, Lang

Unavailable: Bajraktarevic (Illness), Dest (Injured), Tillman (Injured), Pepi (Injured)

Questionable: Junior (Illness)

Arsenal Team News: Attacking injuries

Arsenal have lots of attacking injuries as we head into the run in as Bukayo Saka remains unavailable alongside fellow attackers Kai Havertz, Gabriel Jesus and Gabriel Martinelli. Japan international defender Takehiro Tomiyasu is also still sidelined.

Predicted XI (4-3-3): Raya; Timber, Saliba, Gabriel, Calafiori; Odegaard, Jorginho, Rice; Nwaneri, Merino, Trossard

Unavailable: Tomiyasu (Injured), Havertz (Injured), Saka (Injured), Martinelli (Injured), Jesus (Injured)

Questionable: Tomiyasu (Injured)

PSV Eindhoven vs Arsenal Prediction

PSV were relentless as they won the Eredivisie last season and they appeared set to replicate that again this season but their poor form has coincided with Ajax improving and the Eindhoven-based club now sit eight points behind Ajax at the top-of-the-table, out of the cup and only capable of pulling off a dramatic victory against faltering Juve. Arsenal should be full of confidence and belief as they head to the Philips Stadion with a low-scoring first-leg expected and likely to favour the away team.

PSV Eindhoven vs Arsenal Tip: Arsenal to win & under 3.5 goals
