PSG Preview: PSG in good form

Paris Saint-Germain, coached by former Barcelona boss Luis Enrique, endured a frustrating season last year and have had some concerns in this campaign in the UEFA Champions League but the Parisiens appeared to have turned a corner in the last few months.

PSG come into this one having backed up that first-leg win over Brest by edging past Toulouse by a goal to nil at the weekend thanks to a Fabian Ruiz strike. That victory means the runaway Ligue 1 leaders are now unbeaten in their last 18 matches across all competitions.

Brest Preview: The fairytale is finishing

Former Sunderland player Eric Roy is in charge of a Stade Brest side that defied logic and financial expectations to even quality for the UEFA Champions League last season and reaching this stage of the competition has been the fairytale of this year’s European campaign.

The visitors now come into this one, though, having allowed last weekend’s defeat to halt their improved domestic form by being held to a 2-2 draw at home to out of form Auxerre at Stade Francis-Le Ble at the weekend.

PSG Team News: Potential rotation

Gianluigi Donnarumma was rested at the weekend but is expected to return to the eleven here. Khvicha Kvaratskhelia was left on the bench for PSG in the first-leg but the Georgia international could get the nod at the Parc des Princes with progression all but secured.

Predicted XI (4-3-3): Donnarumma; Hakimi, Marquinhos, Pacho, Mendes; Neves, Vitinha, Ruiz; Doue, Dembele, Kvaratskhelia

Unavailable: Zaire-Emery (Injured)

Brest Team News: A few absentees

Brest have a fair few injury absentees and it will be interesting to see whether or not they prioritise Ligue 1 action now. Romain Del Castillo is sidelined alongside the likes of Jordan Amavi, Bradley Locko, Jonas Martin and Ibrahim Salah.

Predicted XI (4-1-2-1-2): Bizot; Lala, Chardonnet, Coulibaly, Haidara; Lees-Melou; Camara, Magnetti; Faivre; Ajorque, Sima

Unavailable: Amavi (Injured), Locko (Injured), Martin (Injured), Del Castillo (Injured), Salah (Injured)

PSG vs Brest Prediction

Paris Saint-Germain, as mentioned, may well take their eye off the ball here but Luis Enrique decided to rotate and experiment in the league anyway with the Parisiens running away with another French title. They face a Brest side that will try to rediscover their spirit in the capital this week and will ‘give it a go’ in an attacking sense at the Parc des Princes but PSG are the overwhelming favourites to wrap up a heavy aggregate win.
