Preston Parsons: Pressure Parsons seeking to get back in win column

Preston Parsons (11-5) will be looking to get back to .500 in his sixth fight in the UFC after losing three and winning two of his bouts so far. The 29-year-old comes off a unanimous decision loss at the hands of Oban Elliott at UFC 304 and he will be desperate to avoid suffering back-to-back losses for the first time in his career. The submission specialist has an outstanding level of durability and he will look to control this fight.

Jacobe Smith: Unbeaten Contender star makes UFC debut

Jacobe Smith (9-0) is riding a nine-fight win streak having won of his professional MMA fights. The 28-year-old from Oklahoma, USA started his career in the XFL and then Fury FC before getting his chance in Dana White’s Contender Series in October. He inflicted a TKO on Christien Savoie in that fight – his seventh KO in nine fights - and now he has been handed shot in the UFC.

Preston Parsons vs Jacobe Smith Prediction

It is the welterweights next up on the prelims and we have an intriguing bout that will test just how good rising Contender Series star Jacobe Smith is. He has won all nine of his bouts so far and he is handed a really good test in Preston Parsons who will challenge his credentials.

Parsons is a really solid all-rounder who has garnered a fair bit of experience in the Octagon. He looks somewhat limited in his skillset outside of his excellent range of submissions but he will be dangerous for Smith.

Smith has shown his knockout power but his wrestling and ground game could be tested against Parsons here. he will naturally seek to impose his will on the fight and it will come down to who is able to do just that.

We like the look of Smith to connect enough with Parsons to cause him issues and potentially get a knock down or two. He may not necessarily finish the fight and Parsons threat on the ground may lead to Smith being a little cautious but we just favour Smith to edge this in a fight that should go the distance.

Prediction: Fight to go the distance
