Peru vs Bolivia Prediction

Peru, rock-bottom of the CONMEBOL qualifying table, have a new man in charge with Oscar Ibanez taking over from Jorge Fossati following the last international window. Fossati had previously overseen a return of just seven points - and a paltry three goals scored - from the first 12 games in the CONMEBOL section.

The new boss has stated that this fixture at home to one of the worst travellers in the South American continent is one the Peruvians must win, and their current position in the table certainly supports that.

Three consecutive wins September and October, including their first away triumph in qualifying this century, had given Bolivia hope of qualifying for the World Cup for the first time since 1994, but their form since then - a pair of heavy defeats at Argentina and Ecuador and a frustrating home draw with Paraguay - has been wanting. They still occupy the inter-confederation play-off spot but they are on shaky ground with Venezuela just a point behind them.

Peru, buoyed by an ambitious new manager at the helm, look good value to clinch a much-needed victory against a Bolivia side who historically struggle in away games. Backing the hosts to shut out their opponents in the process would also increase the potential returns.
