Perth Scorchers Preview: Scorching revenge on the menu

Perth Scorchers’ quest to secure a third straight BBL 14 was shut down by Sydney Thunder, who came into Optus Stadium and took a big scalp, defeating the hosts by four wickets off the last ball of the game in a thrilling encounter, overshadowed by Cameron Bancroft and Daniel Sams’ head-on collision in the field.

Now, the Scorchers will be eying up revenge against a Renegades’ side who have already beaten them once across this regular season, that coming back before Christmas at Marvel Stadium by a margin of two wickets.

Melbourne Renegades Preview: Visitors sliding down the table

Melbourne Renegades have never kicked on since their nail-biting win over the Perth Scorchers all the way back on December 23rd of last year. Following that victory, Will Sutherland’s side have gone on to lose their following three games, costing them serious ground in the race for a play-off spot.

The bowling has lacked potency of late, which has hurt them with wickets being hard to come by. In those last three matches, the Renegades have taken just 14 of a possible 30 wickets and this has understandably led to them conceding more runs than they would’ve liked.

Perth Scorchers Betting Analysis

Whilst it’s a repetitive move for bettors, we simply cannot stop zoning in on Cooper Connolly as his wonderful BBL 14 with the bat continues to pay dividends. His 43 not out against Sydney Thunder means that Connolly has now piled up 272 runs over six innings and averages 68.00. He also leads the 6s table, having hit 14 maximums in total. This opens up multiple markets where bettors can profit off backing Connolly. ‘Team - Top Batter’, ‘Batter Total Match Sixes’ and ‘Batter Match Runs’ are all in play here, the latter market offering fair value in backing Connolly to register over 27.5 match runs.

Melbourne Renegades Betting Analysis

Despite Melbourne Renegades’ recent struggles with the ball in regards to taking wickets, Tom Rogers’ numbers remain extremely, which underlines the good job he’s doing, accumulating 11 wickets across six games. But it was Gurinder Sandhu who impressed most in the Melbourne derby with three wickets. If selected again here, consider a play on the right-arm pacer to record 2+ wickets.

Perth Scorchers vs Melbourne Renegades Expert Prediction

A vital encounter for both sides but particularly Perth Scorchers when considering the expectation on their shoulders. Melbourne Renegades have been in a slump lately and at Optus Stadium, we should see the Perth batters really look to attack them and try to capitalise on the lack of cutting edge that we’ve seen recently from the Renegades. It would be a big surprise if Perth went down at home for a second game running and they are to be backed for success in this one.
