Perth Scorchers Preview: Lack of cutting edge decisive

Defending 156 to beat Hobart Hurricanes in Tasmania, Perth Scorchers could never take enough wickets to really give themselves the best chance of beating Hobart Hurricanes. Against Melbourne Renegades though, Perth did do enough to bowl Will Sutherland’s side out but for a disappointing evening in the field which ultimately cost them, as they lost by two wickets with an over spare.

They need to clean up their game, particularly in the field and being back at home should help them with that. The Scorchers are one of the strongest teams across the tournament on their own patch and this serves as an ideal opportunity to prove that once again.

Brisbane Heat Preview: McSweeney makes triumphant return

On the back of having been dropped from the Australian Test squad, Nathan McSweeney responded in a brilliant way, scoring 78 not out from 49 balls to lead Brisbane through to a terrific triumph over Adelaide Strikers. The Heat currently sit inside the play-off places and are one of two teams still yet to be beaten this season as we head into Boxing Day.

That result backed up their 8-wicket win against Melbourne Stars at the MCG, putting them on four points from two matches so far. With McSweeney back in the fold and the bowlers doing well, there’s reason to believe they can continue their recent winning streak.

Perth Scorchers Betting Analysis

Cooper Connolly’s 66 last time out was his highest score of BBL 14 so far. The young talent already scored 64 against Melbourne Stars and to have already sailed past the 100-run-mark this early in the competition, bodes well for both him and the Stars. Bettors should be keeping a close eye on proceedings and explore a stake on Connolly to finish as the Scorchers’ top batter.

Brisbane Heat Betting Analysis

McSweeney is likely to be critical again here for the Heat and once more has to be favoured within multiple markets by bettors. Motivation will be massive in the eyes of McSweeney, who will be desperate to prove that he should take back his spot in the Australian Test team despite the difference in format. Back McSweeney to make another whirlwind knock of over 23.5 match runs.

Perth Scorchers vs Brisbane Heat Expert Prediction

Brisbane Heat are the unbeaten team, the reigning champions with talent across their whole line-up. But Perth Scorchers are back at home, where they are usually so strong. On the back of Christmas Day, a tough away trip may prove too much for Brisbane Heat against a fired-up Scorchers side, so back the home side to grab the three points.
