Pedro Martinez vs Arthur Fils prediction

Pedro Martinez got through a close contest against Brandon Nakashima in the first-round, winning 7-5 5-7 6-4. The match was a pretty bruising encounter, taking over three hours, but the Spaniard got the win in front of his home crowd and now takes on Arthur Fils.

Fils endured a more challenging match than most people would expect against Pablo Carreno Busta but still managed to find a way to win in straight sets. The Frenchman won a close first set, taking it on a tiebreak at 8-6, eventually going on to win 7-6 6-3. 

The head-to-head is 1-1, with Martinez actually winning their only match against each other on clay. A close match in Santiago last year saw him win out 6-3 6-7 6-2. Fils has improved as a player since then and did win their last match in Basel at the end of last year in straight sets.

We think Fils is good value for a second successive straight sets win against a Spanish opponent, which would send him through to a fourth quarter-final in a row.
