Paula Badosa vs Veronika Kudermetova prediction

Paula Badosa makes her return to the tour after having to withdraw from the Miami Open due to a back problem. There are concerns about whether the Spaniard has reaggravated the injury which meant she missed most of the 2023 season, but she has declared herself fit for this tournament, though admitted she is not 100%.

Her season began so promisingly with a semi-final appearance at the Australian Open in January, but injuries continue to threaten Badosa’s career at such a crucial juncture. She takes on Veronika Kudermetova after she beat her sister Polina 6-2 6-2. 

The older sister was visibly emotional at the net, but attention must turn to a second-round match against Badosa. The Russian does lead the head-to-head 4-2 overall and 2-1 on clay, with their last match being at the French Open in 2022 with Badosa retiring.
