Parma Preview: Pecchia’s Parma

Following promotion back to the top-flight last season, Parma boss Fabio Pecchia had plenty of offers but decided to stay put and take on his side into Serie A with an entertaining and progressive style of football that has them sitting in the middle-of-the-table.

The home team come into this one on the back of a 5-0 thrashing at the hands of Roma in the capital city last weekend at the Stadio Olimpico with Paulo Dybala notching a brace as well as goals from Alexis Saelemaekers, Leandro Paredes and Artem Dovbyk.

Monza Preview: Rock-bottom Nesta

Over the summer, Monza lost manager Raffaele Palladino to Fiorentina and decided to replace him with AC Milan legend Alessandro Nesta, who was most recently seen struggling at Reggiana in Serie B, and things have been predictably poor as they sit firmly at the foot of the table.

Nesta has now, though, been relieved of his duties and replaced by Salvatore Bocchetti after just one win in their 17 matches so far this season. They most recently suffered a 2-1 loss to Juventus last weekend with all three goals coming in the first-half.

Parma Team News: Defensive injuries

Colombia international centre-back Yordan Osorio has suffered a setback and is unavailable for this weekend alongside Alessandro Circati and Enrico Del Prato with other key absentees including former Manchester City midfielder Adrian Bernabe as well as Gabriel Charpentier.

Predicted XI (4-2-3-1): Suzuki; Coulibaly, Valenti, Balogh, Leoni; Hernani, Sohm; Man, Haj Mohamed, Almqvist; Bonny

Unavailable: Yordan Osorio (Injured), Circati (Injured), Del Prato (Injured), Adrian Bernabe (Injured), Charpentier (Injured), Kowalski (Injured)

Questionable: Nahuel Estevez (Injured), Valeri (Injured)

Monza Team News: Several issues

Italy international midfielders Roberto Gagliardini and Matteo Pessina are both unavailable for this weekend’s short trip to Parma. As well as those two, they have a couple of key doubts in attack such as Milan Djuric and Andrea Petagna.

Predicted XI (3-4-2-1): Turati; D’Ambrosio, Pablo Mari, Carboni; Pereira, Bondo, Bianco, Kyriakopoulos; Birindelli, Caprari; Dany Mota

Unavailable: Cragno (Injured), Gagliardini (Injured), Pessina (Injured)

Questionable: Caldirola (Injured), Djuric (Injured), Petagna (Injured), Vignato (Injured)

Parma vs Monza Prediction

Parma’s 17 matches so far this season have consisted of 56 goals with only seven sides scoring more than the hosts and only one team conceding more. There will be a concern that they need to tighten up a bit at the back but it means they are always a threat in every game they play. They now take on a Monza side that have struggled throughout the campaign and, despite the change in management, do appear destined for the drop with a Parma win, especially with home advantage, the likeliest outcome of this one.
