Parma Preview: Pecchia’s pretty on the eye Parma

Following promotion back to the top-flight of Italian football last season, Fabio Pecchia was heavily linked with clubs in Serie A but the young Italian decided to stay put with Parma. His impressive style of football has seen them play an attractive but an inefficient style of football as they sit in the bottom-half of the table with two victories, six draws and four defeats.

They have been entertaining to watch with their 12 matches so far this season having consisted of 34 goals. Parma come into this one on the back of a 2-1 victory over Venezia in their most recent outing at the Pier Luigi Penzo Stadium in Venice a couple of weeks ago thanks to goals from Emmanuel Valeri and Ange-Yoan Bonny turning the game on its head.

Atalanta Preview: Brilliant Bergamasci

The 2023/24 UEFA Europa League winners Atalanta endured a difficult summer and that resulted in starting the season slowly but the genius Gian Piero Gasperini has been able to once again evolve their style and system once again leaving the Bergamasci in a genuine title race as they head into the November international break.

Atalanta come into this one on the back of a 2-1 defeat of Udinese at the Gewiss Stadium a couple of weeks ago as they came from behind. They have now enjoyed five successive victories in Serie A and they are now unbeaten in their last ten matches across all competitions, beginning the match day sitting just a point behind league leaders Napoli.

Parma Team News: Several issues

Parma are dealing with quite a few absentees for this weekend’s visit of Atalanta to the Ennio Tardini with both Yordan Osorio and Alessandro Circati out injured.

As well as those defensive absentees, Mateusz Kowalski is unavailable alongside key central midfielders Adrian Bernabe and experienced Brazilian Hernani.

Predicted XI (4-2-3-1): Suzuki; Hainaut, Leoni, Del Prato, Valeri; Keita, Sohm; Mihaila, Man, Benedyczak; Cancellieri

Unavailable: Yordan Osorio (Injured), Circati (Injured), Kowalski (Injured), Adrian Bernabe (Injured), Hernani (Injured)

Questionable: Valenti (Injured)

Atalanta Team News: Scalvini and Scamacca recoveries

Gianluca Scamacca is recovering from an ACL injury, whilst centre-back Giorgio Scalvini has returned from his ACL injury that he sustained as recently as May.

However, they do have some defensive injury concerns for this weekend such as Berat Djimsiti and Sead Kolasinac as well as former Chelsea man Davide Zappacosta.

Predicted XI (3-4-2-1): Carnesecchi; Kossounou, Hien, Toloi; Bellanova, Pasalic, De Roon, Ruggeri; Samardzic, Lookman; Retegui

Unavailable: Djimsiti (Injured), Kolasinac (Injured), Zappacosta (Injured), Scamacca (Injured)

Questionable:

Parma vs Atalanta Prediction

In their 12 Serie A matches so far this season, ten of them have featured both teams scoring. They earned themselves a much-needed win against Venezia last time out and will seek to push up the table and kick on. However, they are facing an Atalanta side that have been rampant in the last couple of months with an excellent array of attackers. Atalanta are the favourites for this one with both teams scoring looking like a good bet.

Parma vs Atalanta Tip: Atalanta to win & both teams to score
