MATTHEW EBDEN & JOHN PEERS VS AUSTIN KRAJICEK & RAJEEV RAM PREDICTION

Australia’s Matthew Ebden and John Peers meet Americans Austin Krajicek and Rajeev Ram for the Gold Medal in the men’s doubles for what promises to be another close-fought match.

It feels like a long time since Ebden was well and truly hammered by Novak Djokovic in the singles last weekend but he is a doubles specialist and credit to him for his performances this week that have seen him and his partner John Peers reach the final. Ebden is ranked third in the doubles rankings while Peers is ranked 59th.

Their opponents are Krajicek and Ram who are rankled 18th and 5th respectively and they have plenty of pedigree. Austin Krajicek has played their Australian opponents twice with a different partner and has won one and lost one. With the talented Rajeev Ram alongside him, he will fancy his chances of winning this Gold Medal. The pair beat Alcaraz and Nadal and they will not be phased by this challenge ahead.

The marginal preference here goes to the Americans who have improved with every round and look to be the better of the two pairs.
