As hosts, France will head into the women’s football tournament at the 2024 Summer Olympics and they have a strong side in order to contend this time around. Colombia, on the other hand, are in a much poorer position under the interim management of Angelo Marsiglia.

FRANCE PREVIEW: A STRONG HOST COUNTRY
Under the management of former Saudi Arabia and Morocco boss Herve Renard, the France national women’s team will head into the 2024 Summer Olympics as one of the absolute favourites for the gold medal with an array of talent throughout their squad.
They have a squad full of talent and experience with the likes of Wendy Renard, Amandine Henry, Eugenie Le Sommer and Kadidiatou Diani among those with over 100 caps. They come into this one on the back of an inconsistent run of form with four victories and three defeats in their last seven games.
COLOMBIA PREVIEW: CURSING THEIR LUCK
Currently ranked at number 22 and going up in the FIFA rankings, the Colombians come into the 2024 Summer Olympics with an interim coach, Angelo Marsiglia, at the helm. They will be cursing their luck to have been drawn into a tough group alongside Canada, France and New Zealand.
Colombia come into this one on the back of a 2-1 defeat to Ecuador in their final warm-up friendly for this tournament a couple of weeks ago. Prior to that loss, they had enjoyed four successive victories and, as mentioned, are rising in the rankings.
FRANCE VS COLOMBIA PREDICTION
France have not been as ruthless defensively as one might expect a Herve Renard coached side to be but they do remain one of the very strongest sides in the competition and one that will be expected to go deep and medal at the very least. Colombia remain in flux, despite their recent improvement in terms of results, and this should be quite a nice way for the French to ease their way into a home Olympics campaign.
