FRANCE PREVIEW: COMPLACENCY A CONCERN
Coached by former Saudi Arabia, Morocco and Zambia boss Herve Renard, France will have a few concerns, despite winning their opening game of the tournament against Colombia by three goals to two.
The French went into the half-time interval with a 3-0 lead but the Colombians rallied well to make it 3-2 and then pushed for an equaliser with some excellent openings but nothing was taken and the hosts were eventually relieved to take all three points.
CANADA PREVIEW: THE UNDERWHELMING CANADIANS
Despite being the defending champions of the women’s Olympic football tournament, the Canadians came into this tournament in unconvincing form with some poor results, which include a group stage exit at the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup.
Their underwhelming form was how they began the 2024 Summer Olympics as they fell 1-0 down to a poor New Zealand side before eventually turning the game on its head with goals from Cloe Lacasse and then Evelyne Viens.
FRANCE VS CANADA PREDICTION
The first-half of France’s opener was extremely convincing and impressive as they target a gold medal in what Team France are hoping to be their best ever Olympic performance. However, their second-half will give the rest of the field a bit of hope of causing something of an upset at some stage in this encounter. However, with Canada almost floundering in victory, this one is unlikely to be the game in which they slip up so France should come out on top.
