Egypt managed to qualify as group winners with a dramatic turnaround in their fortunes a few days ago and the north Africans will now fancy themselves to have at least a medal match as they take on a revitalised and recovered Paraguayan side.

EGYPT PREVIEW: DOGGED, DETERMINED EGYPTIANS
Coached by Rogerio Micale, who guided Brazil to their first ever Olympic gold medal in the men’s football back in 2016, the Egyptians have continued on with their low-scoring, defence first style of football that has left them underperforming in recent years.
However, the north Africans qualified as Group C winners the other day when they took advantage of a heavily rotated Spanish side to win by two goals to one, following on from a win and a draw against Uzbekistan and the Dominican Republic respectively.
PARAGUAY PREVIEW: THE POTENTIAL OF PARAGUAY
Ahead of the tournament, Paraguay looked to have an array of really exciting talents, most notably Brighton and Hove Albion man Julio Enciso and Brighton-bound Diego Gomez. However, down to ten men after just 20 minutes against Japan, they began the tournament with a 5-0 loss.
Since then, the South Americans have begun to put things right and now head into the quarter-finals on the back of back-to-back victories against Israel and then Mali in which they scored a total of five goals, showing their attacking promise.
EGYPT VS PARAGUAY PREDICTION
This one is a real clash of styles and that could well mean we see this game remain very tight and even go into a penalty shootout. Egypt have an extremely tight defence and set up conservatively as they now take on a Paraguayan side with an abundance of creativity in the final third. Egypt will look to shut up shop, whilst Paraguay huff and puff and a low-scoring encounter as a result would appear quite likely.
