DOMINICAN REPUBLIC PREVIEW: BUILDING ON A FOUNDATION

Under the management of former Athletic Club player Ibai Gomez, the Dominican Republic, who have focused efforts on naturalising talent in order to play for the Dominican Republic, will be relatively pleased with their start to the campaign.

In their opening game against a well grooved and mature Egyptian side, they shared a goalless draw in a game that was even throughout. 13 shots apiece with three on target each, too, but the Dominican Republic did shade the possession.

SPAIN PREVIEW: FINDING SOME FLUENCY

In a summer dominated by the success of the Spanish senior team, Santi Denia will have to find some of his own fluency for the next couple of weeks with a couple of members from their UEFA EURO 2024 winning squad, Alex Baena and Fermin Lopez, with him in Paris to help him.

They began their Olympic group stage campaign by defeating Uzbekistan by two goals to one. Marc Pubill opened the scoring after 23 minutes before Uzbekistan’s key man, Eldor Shomurodov, equalised before half-time and then Sergio Gomez scored a second-half winner.

DOMINICAN REPUBLIC VS SPAIN PREDICTION

The Dominican Republic are, or at least were, expected to be relatively attacking and on the front foot during this tournament with an impressive coaching style and philosophy of Ibai Gomez but it was a bit more possession dominant against the Egyptians. If they are to therefore try and out pass each of the teams that they face then there is a risk that this one turns it to a bit of a massacre and a comfortable Spain win is to be expected as they seek qualification for the quarter-finals.

DOMINICAN REPUBLIC VS SPAIN TIP: SPAIN TO WIN -1 HANDICAP
