We are in for a pretty astonishing final round of fixtures in Group A of the women’s Olympic Football tournament because, despite having a six-point deduction, Canada will qualify for the quarter-finals with a victory over Colombia.

COLOMBIA PREVIEW: EDGING THEIR WAY THROUGH
Colombia remain under the interim management of Angelo Marsiglia but they have been improving this year and have risen in the rankings. They head into the final game of Group A with a really good chance of progressing into the quarter-finals.
In their opening match, they found themselves 3-0 down at half-time to hosts France but fought back to only lose by three goals to two before then producing a comfortable 2-0 victory over New Zealand to mean they currently sit at the top of their group.
CANADA PREVIEW: THE CANADIAN SCANDAL
Canada began their Olympic campaign with a 2-1 defeat of New Zealand but that was undermined when their coaching staff were suspended until after the games after an illegal drone spy was spotted over New Zealand’s pre-match training sessions.
As well as the coaching bans, Canada also endured a six-point deduction meaning that they needed to win both games to stand any chance. After being 1-0 down to France at half-time, they came from behind to win their game against the hosts in the 102nd minute of the match.
COLOMBIA VS CANADA PREDICTION
Colombia have arguably been the surprise package of the tournament so far with two excellent performances thus far and they will likely take the game to the Canadians. However, the spirit of the Canadian side as they seek to defend their Olympic title after a few years of underperformance cannot be denied, especially given the explained circumstances. This is certainly already building up to be a thriller for the neutral with both teams scoring seeming like quite a good bet.
