MEN’S POLE VAULT

What time is the men’s Pole Vault taking place? UK – 6:00pm / France – 7:00pm / US ET – 1:00pm / US PT – 11:00am

Where is the men’s Pole Vault taking place? Stade de France, Paris

Who is the reigning Olympic champion in the men’s Pole Vault? Armand Duplantis (SWE)

Who is the current world record holder of the men’s Pole Vault? Armand Duplantis (SWE) with 6.24 in Xiamen, China on 20th April 2024

PREDICTION

The defending champion, Armand Duplantis, is back to defend his title after setting a new world record in the men’s Pole Vault as recently as April when he jumped 6.24 metres in Xiamen.

Duplantis is such a heavy favourite that there is arguably no point in backing him but there may well be value in seeing if the Swede can yet again set another new world record with the likes of Ernest John Obiena of the Philippines and Sam Kendricks of the United States likely to make the podium.

TIP: ARMAND DUPLANTIS (SWE) TO SET A NEW WORLD RECORD

WOMEN’S BALANCE BEAM

What time is the women’s Balance Beam taking place? UK – 11:36am / France – 12:36am / US ET – 6:36am / US PT – 3:36am

Who is the reigning Olympic champion in the women’s Balance Beam? Guan Chenchen (CHN)

PREDICTION

The remarkable and incomparable Simone Biles already has six Olympic gold medals to her name, including two at the 2024 Summer Olympics, and the 27-year-old is expected to challenge for the podium, once again.

She isn’t the favourite, though, with China’s Zhou Yaqin qualifying as the best Balance Beam athlete the other day. Rebeca Andrade is expected to take the other step on the podium with Biles sandwiched in between.

TIP: ZHOU YAQIN (CHN) TO WIN

WOMEN’S FLOOR EXERCISE

What time is the women’s Floor Exercise taking place? UK – 1:20pm / France – 2:20pm / US ET – 8:20pm / US PT – 5:20pm

Where is the women’s Floor Exercise taking place? Bercy Arena, Paris

Who is the reigning Olympic champion in the women’s Floor Exercise? Jade Carey (USA)

PREDICTION

Defending champion Jade Carey is not back in Paris to retake her gold medal but it should still remain in the hands of the United States with the aforementioned Simone Biles once again going for gold.

Arguably the greatest gymnast of all time, who may not find gold in the Balance Beam, is the heavy favourite to win a gold medal here after winning qualification by a comfortable margin ahead of the likes of Rebeca Andrade and her compatriot, Jordan Chiles.

TIP: SIMONE BILES (USA) TO WIN

WOMEN’S 800M

What time is the women’s 800m taking place? UK – 8:45pm / France – 9:45pm / US ET – 1:45pm / US PT – 10:45pm

Where is the women’s 800m taking place? Stade de France, Paris

Who is the reigning Olympic champion in the women’s 800m? Athing Mu (USA)

Who is the current world record holder of the women’s 800m? Jarmila Kratochvilova (CZE) with 1:53.28 in Munich, West Germany on 26th July 1983

PREDICTION

Back in Tokyo, Team GB’s Keely Hodgkinson took home the silver medal behind the United States’ Athing Mu. In the meantime, she has been frustrated in the World Championships in 2022 and 2023, once again having to settle for silver but then did make it back-to-back gold medals in the European Championships in Rome earlier this year.

This time around, though, Hodgkinson is the heavy favourite to win gold but a good value bet here could actually be to see a podium dominated by Team GB with Jemma Reekie and Phoebe Gill also challenging, albeit both seem a way off Kenya’s Mary Moraa.

TIP: KEELY HODGKINSON (GBR) TO WIN WITH PHOEBE GILL (GBR) OR JEMMA REEKIE (GBR) TO WIN A MEDAL

WOMEN’S TEAM SPRINT

What time is the women’s Team Sprint taking place? UK – 6:58pm / France – 7:58pm / US ET – 1:58pm / US PT – 10:58pm

Where is the women’s Team Sprint taking place? Stade de France, Paris

Who is the reigning Olympic champion in the women’s Team Sprint? China

PREDICTION

Back in Tokyo, China won the gold medal and they are expected to challenge for the podium once again but there are two teams that have dominated the event in the meantime and they are both evenly matched.

Germany and Great Britain are expected to be the finalists in this event and it appears difficult to split them so actually backing that as the final could be the safest bet for this one.

TIP: GERMANY AND GREAT BRITAIN TO MAKE THE FINAL
