MEN’S FLOOR EXERCISE

What time is the men’s floor exercise taking place? UK – 2:30pm / France – 3:30pm / US ET – 9:30am / US PT – 7:30am

Where is the men’s floor exercise taking place? Bercy Arena, Paris

Who is the reigning Olympic champion in the men’s floor exercise? Artem Dolgopyat (ISR)

PREDICTION

In the men’s floor exercise, there is no defending champion with Artem Dolgopyat now retired so there is the opportunity for a new Olympic champion and it could well be that the new Olympic champion is a member of Team GB.

Jake Jarman qualified in first place for the men’s floor exercise final and he then put in the best performance of anyone in the men’s individual all-round final the other day, too. He is in an excellent position to bring the gold back for Great Britain.

TIP: JAKE JARMAN (GBR) TO WIN

WOMEN’S VAULT

Where is the women’s floor taking place? Bercy Arena, Paris

Who is the reigning Olympic champion in the women’s floor? Rebeca Andrade (BRA)

PREDICTION

In the women’s vault, Brazilian gymnast Rebeca Andrade took advantage of Simone Biles’ withdrawal from the Tokyo games three years ago to take home the gold medal but she is unlikely to be able to do so this time around.

Biles, who already has a gold medal from leading Team USA in the women’s Team All-Round event and is expected to challenge for gold in pretty much every event, qualified as the best in the vault and she is the heavy favourite here.

TIP: SIMONE BILES (USA) TO WIN

WOMEN’S 100M

What time is the women’s 100m taking place? UK – 8:20pm / France – 9:20pm / US ET – 3:20pm / US PT – 1:20pm

Where is the women’s 100m taking place? Stade de France, Paris

Who is the reigning Olympic champion in the women’s 100m? Elaine Thompson-Herah (JAM)

Who is the current world record holder of the women’s 100m? Florence Griffith-Joyner (USA) with 10.49 in Indianapolis on 16th July 1988

PREDICTION

Sha’Carri Richardson took home the gold medal for the women’s 100m at the World Athletics Championships in Budapest last year with Shericka Jackson and Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce, both of Jamaica, claiming the other two spots on the podium.

Defending champion and legend of the sport Elaine Thompson-Herah is racing but unlikely to even make the final, whilst GB’s Dina Asher-Smith is an outsider for the podium. It will be closely fought between the three from the World Championships as well as Julien Alfred but USA’s Richardson is the heavy favourite.

TIP: SHA’CARRI RICHARDSON (USA) TO WIN

MEN’S 100M BUTTERFLY

What time is the men’s 100m butterfly taking place? UK – 7:30pm / France – 8:30pm / US ET – 2:30pm / US PT – 12:30pm

Where is the men’s 100m butterfly taking place? La Defense Arena, Paris

Who is the reigning Olympic champion in the men’s 100m butterfly? Caeleb Dressel (USA)

Who is the current world record holder of the men’s 100m butterfly? Pan Zhanle (CHN) with 46.40

PREDICTION

There are plenty of big names in what is a star studded field in the men’s 100m butterfly with Ben Armbruster, Chad le Clos, James Guy, Cameron Gray, Kristof Milak, Maxime Grousset and defending champion Caeleb Dressel in the running.

World record holder Pan Zhanle is not taking part, though, which does open the race up slightly. Another couple of names to keep an eye out for will be Canada’s Josh Liendo and Noe Ponti of Switzerland but the favourite remains Dressel as he seeks to make it back-to-back 100m butterfly Olympic gold.

TIP: CAELEB DRESSEL (USA) TO WIN

WOMEN’S EIGHT

What time is the women’s eight taking place? UK – 9:50am / France – 10:50am / US ET – 4:50am / US PT – 2:50am

Where is the women’s eight taking place? Stade Nautical, Paris

Who is the reigning Olympic champion in the women’s eight? Canada

PREDICTION

Canada are back to defend their title this time around but they are not really actually expected to challenge with the expectation being that this is almost a foregone conclusion with Romania the heavy, heavy favourites to take the gold medal.

Their closest challengers are expected to be Great Britain with the United States and Australia also in the running for the podium but this Romanian side have set the question of by how far, rather than whether or not they will at all.

TIP: ROMANIA TO WIN

MEN’S EIGHT

What time is the men’s eight taking place? UK – 10:10am / France – 11:10am / US ET – 5:10am / US PT – 3:10am

Where is the men’s eight taking place? Stade Nautical, Paris

Who is the reigning Olympic champion in the men’s eight? New Zealand

PREDICTION

In the men’s eight event in Paris, it is quite an open field because, like in the women’s, the defending champions, New Zealand, have even missed out on the final and so the opening is there for a new champion.

Great Britain have had an excellent season so far but will face stiff competition from the United States with both the Netherlands and Australia fighting it out for a place on the podium. It has been a brilliant meet for Team GB and this would be yet another strong statement that British rowing is back.

TIP: GREAT BRITAIN TO WIN
