Otto Virtanen vs Nuno Borges Prediction

Otto Virtanen was eliminated in qualifying on Sunday by Botic van de Zandschulp 6-1 6-4 but the Finn was handed a reprieve as a lucky loser. Ugo Humbert pulled out of the tournament on Monday morning after winning the title in Marseille on Sunday evening, thus handing a spot in the first round to Virtanen.

The 23-year-old takes on Portugal’s Nuno Borges on Tuesday in what promises to be a good game. They did meet once before on the ATP Tour and it was the Finn who won 6-2 6-1 so Borges will be keen to avenge that.

Borges has started 2025 pretty well so far and the 27-year-old has been beaten by some in-form players in the tournaments he has played so far. He should be happy with the level of his performances however and he will be keen to do well this week.

We like Borges’ chances of getting the win here. Virtanen has nothing to lose and lucky losers are always dangerous to play against. However, Virtanen was pretty poor in his loss to Van de Zandschulp and we expect Borges to inflict another loss and knock him out.
