Olivia Gadecki partners Alex de Minaur for Australia and the 22-year-old will be hoping she can get a win here and ideally avoid this tie going to the doubles match.

She has had a good 2024 in the singles and she also won a doubles’ title so she will be confident coming into these matches as a strong all-rounder.

She meets Nadia Podoroska who will be no pushover and they have already met once. That came in Indian Wells qualifying in the first half of 2024 and it was the Argentine who won 6-2 6-4. That will give Podoroska plenty of confidence.

She is ranked three places behind Gadecki at number 100 in the world but she will feel some pressure to upset the home favourite here. Podoroski is certainly capable but she will want to get a fast start.
