Nurullo Aliev: Unbeaten Tajik Eagle puts 100% record on the line

Nurullo Aliev (9-0) brings his 100% record into UFC Fight Night 249 and the Tajik fighter will be tested once again. After coming through Dana White’s Contender Series, Aliev beat Rafael Alves on his UFC debut in February 2023. He has had almost two years out of the Octagon but he returns and will be desperate to make up for lost time as he faces Joe Solecki.

Joe Solecki: New Jersey native eager to halt two-fight skid

Joe Solecki (13-5) comes into this fight after losing back-to-back fights for the first time in his professional MMA career. The New Jersey native enjoyed some good wins after joining the UFC in 2019 and won five of his first six fights but he since lost his last two. After being knocked out by Drakkar Klose in December 2023, he then lost a unanimous decision to Grant Dawson in June last year and now he needs a win to avoid a trio of losses.

Nurullo Aliev vs Joe Solecki Prediction

If it is fireworks you are expecting, this is likely not to be the fight you are looking for on the UFC Fight Night 249 card.

If you are after a highly technical fight between a supreme wrestler in Aliev and a submission specialist like Solecki, this is the one for you.

Neither fighter possesses much knockout power so it will be interesting to see if either fighter backs themselves in the stand-up and similarly who will go for the takedown first.

Aliev has shown all the hallmarks of yet another Eastern European wrestling machine and it will be interesting to see if he can continue to grind out the wins as the quality of opponent improves.

Solecki is always capable of pulling off a submission at any time but he may have his hands full here. Aliev looks to be incredibly strong and we think he is capable of grinding the win out on the scorecards.

Prediction: Nurullo Aliev to win via decision
