Novak Djokovic makes his return to action after not playing since he was forced to withdraw after the first set of his Australian Open semi-final with Alexander Zverev.

The Serb legend has recovered from the injury and comes to Qatar having received a tough draw as the third seed, as he meets Italy’s Matteo Berrettini in the first round.

The pair have met four times before and Djokovic has won all four meetings so that will give the Serb confidence and it will likely weigh on Berrettini’s mind.

The Italian has had a slow start to 2025 winning just one of his four matches so far and he will rue his luck having been handed this draw. He is very much a confidence player and unless he starts well here, we struggle to see a route to victory for him given Djokovic’s dominance over him in recent years.
