Nottingham Forest Preview: Tricky Trees

Former Wolverhampton Wanderers coach Nuno Espirito Santo has his Nottingham Forest side sitting tucked inside the top four and the UEFA Champions League spots at Christmas with Forest sitting only eight points away from league leaders Liverpool, too.

The home team come into this one on the back of inflicting a first home defeat of the season onto Brentford thanks to goals in either half from Ola Aina and Anthony Elanga. They have now enjoyed four victories in their last five matches.

Tottenham Preview: Ridiculous results

Tottenham Hotspur have played 26 matches across all competitions so far this season with 95 goals coming in those 26 matches. That frankly ridiculous record has made it extremely entertaining to watch but also, from a Spurs’ supporters perspective, immensely frustrating.

Last weekend saw Spurs suffer a 6-3 hammering at home to Liverpool as they remain in the bottom-half of the table at Christmas. Spurs’ propensity for high scoring games has been the case all season but has increased of late with 30 goals in their last five matches.

Nottingham Forest Team News: Danilo edging back

As ever, Nuno was coy in his pre-match press conference with regards to team news. Danilo has returned to training after his broken ankle on the opening day of the campaign but fellow midfielders Ibrahim Sangare and Nicolas Dominguez are sidelined.

Predicted XI (3-4-2-1): Sels; Milenkovic, Murillo, Morato; Aina, Gibbs-White, Anderson, Williams; Elanga, Hudson-Odoi; Wood

Unavailable: Dominguez (Suspended), Sangare (Injured)

Questionable: Danilo (Fitness)

Tottenham Team News: Defensive issues

In his pre-match press conference, Ange Postecoglou has confirmed there are no new injury concerns for Spurs. They do still have plenty of issues at the back but Destiny Udogie ‘should’ be fit for Boxing Day with Rodrigo Bentancur returning from suspension, too.

Predicted XI (4-2-3-1): Forster; Porro, Dragusin, Gray, Udogie; Bentancur, Bissouma; Kulusevski, Maddison, Son; Solanke

Unavailable: Vicario (Injured), Romero (Injured), Van de Ven (Injured), Davies (Injured), Moore (Illness), Odobert (Injured), Richarlison (Injured)

Nottingham Forest vs Tottenham Prediction

Nottingham Forest will look to take the game to Tottenham Hotspur here but their best method and most effective method of attack throughout this season has been on the counter. The hosts will sit back and seek to soak up pressure before springing a surprise. Spurs will dominate the ball and will need to sure themselves up at the back but the clinical and swift nature of the Forest attack makes that unlikely with both teams scoring a good bet.
