Nottingham Forest have been slightly derailed by consecutive Premier League losses but they remain in a strong position in the table as they take on promoted side Ipswich, who have been making strides.

Nottingham Forest Preview: Reality check

After a superb run of form which included three straight Premier League victories for the first time in the 21st century, Nottingham Forest have been given something of a reality check of late having lost their two games against Newcastle and Arsenal.

They conceded three goals in both those defeats, and Nuno Espirito Santo will be keen to see his defence tighten up here although Ipswich are unlikely to offer as much attacking threat as Forest's last two opponents.

Ipswich Preview: Three unbeaten

In fairness to Ipswich though, they have been a vastly improved team in recent weeks and they followed their shock 1-2 victory away at Tottenham with a 1-1 draw against Man Utd last weekend in what was Ruben Amorim's first match in charge of the Red Devils.

The Tractor Boys have found the net in seven of their last eight Premier League encounters, and have a fairly kind run of fixtures in the lead-up to Christmas with which to haul themselves out of the relegation zone.

Nottingham Forest Team News: Trio doubtful

In his usual style, Espirito Santo did not offer much in the way of concrete answers when it came to the prospects of Elliot Anderson, Morgan Gibbs-White and Anthony Elanga featuring. Anderson and Gibbs-White missed out altogether against Arsenal, while Elanga was withdrawn at half-time with a painful knock.

Top scorer Chris Wood will surely return to the starting line-up in place of Taiwo Awoniyi after the veteran forward was benched last time out.

Predicted XI (4-2-3-1): Sels; Aina, Milenkovic, Murillo, Moreno; Yates, Domiguez; Jota Silva, Gibbs-White, Hudson-Odoi; Wood

Unavailable: Danilo (Injured), Sangare (Injured)

Questionable: Anderson (Injured), Gibbs-White (Injured), Elanga (Injured)

Ipswich Team News: Quartet fighting to be involved

Jacob Greaves and Nathan Broadhead have been training and could feature, although Kieran McKenna could keep faith with his backline especially.

Ben Johnson and Kalvin Phillips also have a chance of making the matchday squad, but George Hirst is out for the remainder of 2024 with a knee injury alongside Chiedozie Ogbene.

Predicted XI (4-2-3-1): Muric; Tuanzebe, O'Shea, Burgess, Davis; Morsy, Phillips; Burns, Hutchinson, Szmodics; Delap

Unavailable: Hirst (Injured), Ogbene (Injured)

Questionable: Greaves (Fitness), Johnson (Injured), Phillips (Injured), Broadhead (Fitness)

Nottingham Forest vs Ipswich Prediction

After successive losses in the Premier League for Nottingham Forest, Nuno will have used this week to regroup but he will be aware of the considerable improvements that Ipswich have made lately, so this will be no easy assignment for the visitors.

Indeed, the hosts have drawn half their Premier League games this season and are on the verge of going four league games without defeat for the second time in 2024-25. When all is said and done, another draw could be on the cards.
