Nikita Krylov vs Dominick Reyes Prediction
Nikita Krylov is coming off three successive wins but the Ukrainian has not fought in over two years. Successive wins over Alexander Gustafsson, Volkan Oezdemir and Ryan Spann have seen him rise up to number eight in the rankings but he has not fought since March 2023 for one reason or another so he will have to shake off any rust as he returns to action at UFC 314.
He has been paired up with Dominick Reyes who is enjoying something of a resurgence himself of late. After suffering four losses in a row against some of the best fighters in the division, including two title shots against Jon Jones and Jan Blachowicz, Reyes had a reset in 2023 and bounced back nicely in 2024 with back-to-back knockout wins over Dustin Jacoby and Anthony Smith.
There are plenty of unknowns in this fight but the one thing we do know is that there is plenty on the line. The winner could catapult himself up close to the top five and get back in the mix while it will only make the road longer for the losing fighter.
Prior to his absence, Krylov was looking increasingly dangerous and he really is a well-rounded fighter that in a threat standing and on the ground. Reyes is a little more one-dimensional and will need to rely on his striking to get the win here.
For that reason, we have to side with Krylov to have enough in his locker to get the win. It may not be pretty at times and Krylov may need to take it to the floor which will not be popular with the fans, but that is his best route to victory.
Prediction: Nikita Krylov to win
